1st month yarn diet report

January has seen me knitting more than the past months. Would this yarn diet be effective to motivate me? Here is what I knit after the cardigan, after the end of the holidays :

A chenille scarf in simple moss stitch :

Made from Lion Suede Prints, I used the 2 balls as suggested on the ball band so 150 grams...

And a pair of socks in the Mega Boots Stretch yarn from Lana Grossa :

I followed the Blueberry waffle socks pattern, and I just have to mention I love this very easy stitch. Didn't like too much knitting with yarn, it's very splitty. BUT it makes a very comfy fabric, so can't complain, it was worth the effort.

So, allowing myself to cheat a bit, as I did not count the remnants of the not-completely knitted balls (maybe 10 gr of the last ball in Big wool remains, and 10 gr from the sock yarn), I total 550 grams of knitted yarn for january. Not too bad, me thinks ;-)

Now what about February? It already well started, and I've already 1 FO, and it is a special one :

Here is a handspun hat, yeah! The beige-grey is from a fleece I ordered in Australia waaaay too long ago, washed asap, and has been waiting until now. I made a first bit of a yarn lately, and it was apparently quite inspiring, as I aussitôt felt like knitting something. I also had the bits offered from a batt club, with which I felt more daring that with the batts themselves (from Moonrover, pure bliss to spin, more about that later), and made a little meshup yarn. These two 2 ply yarns knitted together are great and I love the hat. I was a bit generous when knitting 22 cm instead of 20 cm before the crown, but it will make for a warm hat for walking in the nature. I just love those colours, and the natural beige gives it an ideal background.
I was so eager to knit, that I cast on with 4,5 mm needles, about 94 sts, went in 2/2 ribbing for some rounds, then knit st st with stripes, and improvised the crown. Pattern? Not this time! Who would have ever thought that of me, always following so blindly the easiest patterns. 10 years knitting now (yep, it will be next winter).

And that's...55 grams!

Here is what I'm knitting on at the moment : simple, straight socks with a very colourfull Regia yarn. It is a happy knitting which helped through some grey days lately, eventhough there is now some bits of a timid sun very evocative of a spring to come.

Happy knitting to you all!

P.S. more pictures of the projects on ravelry
