Good news, bad news (part 1)

Usually when someone comes up with one good news, one bad, and asks "Which one first?", the answer is : the bad one. To have the good one to be consoled with, I guess. Well, my knitting has at the moment quite a few bad, and thankfully, some good too. For once, we'll start by the good ones followed by their bad counterpart.
So to begin with, my Noro wrap cardi :

It is almost finished. The miles of stocking stitch have been gone through, without too many problem. There are a few loose stitches, but ok. I hope it won't see too much.

So now, what's the bad news about it? There are 373 stitches to pick and knit from the border (neck + front opening border).

Should I add : "I don't like picking up stitches?". At this point, I think it is obvious :)

Well, to console myslef and sly away from the picking up stitches part, I am knitting socks. One can never be too early for the xmas gifts.

One pair in Lang Jawoll, superwash, using the reinforcement yarn for the heel, is done :

Then the one sock with a picot edging in Knit Picks Sock Yarn is getting its sister soon :

The only problem being that I think I still haven't understood how to make it easy. That's what it takes me to do the reversing, knitting together the stitches from the founding row and the current ones :

Yes. It is that bad.

Happy week end to all, and I hope to have *only* good knitting news next.

I always want the bad news first so that I have something to look forward to.

There are 3 ways to do the picot edge.

1. knit, fold and sew
2. provisional cast on, and knit from edge and live sts
3. knit and pickup and knit tog.

I think #2 works best and that's what I tend to use. I find 1 and 3 gives a bulkier seamline.

so what's the good news?

Hey! Chin up. It is not all bad. By the time I am writing this I am sure you would have sorted the problem and are probably contentedly wearing your Noro cardi.
