Finally, my long lasting denim knitalong is finished, and i can face the future with a lighter back. Only a bit lighter, mind you, because i have quite a few WIPs which still have to be examined, restarted, and hopefully...finished. But for the moment, I will happily enjoy the latest FO.
Behind it hide quite a few stories, deceits, surprises and abandon, but i am so happy it has a good ending! I started it august 2004, finished in September 2006, so it took me a bit more than 2 years. Only.
All in all, what i had the most difficulty with were the fronts. I was definitely not concentrated enough to follow or understand, or both of them, the pattern, so i had to rip each front 3 times when arriving at the armholes.
But i really, really like the result. I didn't stop wearing it since the last bit of the finishing a week ago with the zipper was done. To sew the zipper in, I followed the very good Chick Knit tutorial , which helped me to prevent another mistake, another ripping-unsewing. Ouf, this was close...

I know it's kind of weird that I don't stop wearing it, and that I wasn't caught on a picture with my newly-finished Bomber, esp as we had a twice a Stitch&Bitch at my place, and that we went touristy two days ago...but I keep my chances open, and as soon as I have a showable picture of me & my new favourite FO, it will be shown.
True, the knitting was long, true, I had blue fingers all along. But my needles didn't get blue, as I used inox needles, and as i followed all Polly's good advices (en françaisici ), I didn't have bad surprises. The knitting took so long, because these pockets were difficult for me, I never had done any like them, but it was worth the effort, and that is maybe what I like the most of it. Or is it the colour? Or the nice touch? Or the fact that i finished it? I LOVE MY BOMBER!!!! Well now, i guess i was clear enough...
To resume :
Pattern : Bomber , from Denim People.
Yarn : denim from Rowan, shade Nashville (the darkest, as i wanted the blue fingers), 17 balls (one more than stated, because of the changes i did).
Size : L, fits medium me.
Changes : added 5 pre-shrink centimers in the lenghth of the body.
Now on my needles :

Shriek , from the Rowan Mag n°32. Detail of the wonky stitches here
This weekend on Saturday, went to Aachen with Sophie and a non-knitting (there is hope there), non-blogging friend, for a bit of tourism, shopping, and a visit to Bomber where I had previously bought the lace Noro I was short of some 30 grams. SoOOO only a few kilometers of stocking stitch to go to finish the cardi....
P.S. : I thought that after the 100th i could try it in English. Feel free to correct my mistakes...
i can't believe you posted in english!!!! at first i thought "woops, did i hit some kind of auto translator on this page????"
miss you! let's plan a trip together? and i need some help with your previous entries. how is it i can be feeling so confident with my french and then get stymied halfway through a la tricoteuse bretonne post!!!
Posted by: carolyn at September 11, 2006 03:18 PMAu fait, est-ce que je t'ai dit à quel point ce Bomber me plaît ??
;-D
